(Japan) Takuji Amioka, President of Toyota Auto Works Co., Ltd. Kiyomitsu Takagi, and President of Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd. Kyoichi Tanada, preside over Toyota Hiace Commuter High-Roof line-off ceremony at Toyota Auto Works Co., Ltd., in Samrong Tai in Samutprakarn Province.

Toyota Auto Works Co., Ltd. (TAW), formerly known as Thai Auto Works, currently starts its assembly line of Hiace Commuter High-Roof with total capital investment of THBaht 1,500 million.

It is a first time for the locally built Hiace Commuter to replace its imported ones as seeing its readiness of Thailand’s automobile industry in terms of high-efficiency production lines, high skilled workers and quality control capabilities. TAW produces gasoline and diesel engine models of Hiace Commuter to response to domestic market demand. Hiace Commuter High-Roof is now available for a prompt delivery service to customers.

During its first year, the plant has around 300 employees and is initially operated with 1 shift a day. Approximately in the middle of 2013, the production capacity will be increased to two shifts working per day in order to reach a production target of 18,000 units per year.
