BANGKOK, 2 February 2015 —— Managing director of Bangkok Broadcasting & TV Co., Ltd., Palakorn Somsuwan, and chief operating officer of Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Pitak Pruittisarikorn hold a joint press conference for Honda LPGA THAILAND 2015 staging from 26 February to 1 March 2015 at Siam Country Club Pattaya, Old Course.
The 57 highest ranked golfers on the 2015 LPGA Priority List and 3 champions from the preceding 2015 LPGA tournaments which include Coates Golf Championship presented by R+L Carriers 2015, Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic 2015 and ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open 2015. (In the event that the winner is already among the top 57 players, the next in line will automatically get into the tournament). The tournament features the top 60 golfers from the LPGA’s money list and 10 exemptions competing for 4 days in the 72-hole stroke play with no cuts to win the prize purse of US$ 1.5 million, or THBaht 46 million, with a special hole-in-one prize on the Par-3, 16th hole of an all-new Honda HR-V.
According to the chief operating officer of Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Pitak Pruittisarokorn, “Honda has been the title sponsor of the Honda LPGA THAILAND ladies’ professional golf tournament since 2006. It is nine consecutive years that we continue this world’s leading women golfers from the 2015 LPGA Priority List. Among them are Anna Nordqvist, who is the champion of this tournament in 2014, Stacy Lewis, Inbee Park, Michelle Wie, Suzann Pettersen, and Paula Creamer including the winners of the first 3 LPGA tournaments in 2015; and top-performing Thai professionals Pornanong Phatlum and Moriya Jutanugarn. Honda and Channel 7 were joining to invite ten golfers and top Thai golfers including Ai Miyazato, Ariya Jutanugarn, Thidapa Suwannapura and the rising star youth golfer Bussabakorn Sukapan will also join the tournament.”

“The players will begin to arrive in Thailand on 23 February in preparation for the tournament. On Monday, 23 February, Thailand’s rising star Sherman Santiwiwaottanaphong and Korean golfer Mi Jung Hur will conduct a golf skills clinic for junior golfers so that they can develop their skills and inspire the younger generation. On Tuesday, 24 February, the players will gather to take part in the official photo call and on Wednesday, 25 February, there will be an opportunity for the media to meet the top players such as defending champion Anna Nordqvist, Inbee Park and Stacy Lewis.”

The winning entries will be featured in a fashion show during the Honda LPGA Charity Night. An auction for famous golf collectibles will also take place during the charity night event and all earnings from the event, with no deductions, will go to the Queen’s Silapacheep Foundation. Furthermore, we also initiate a social responsibility activity in the local community. Some lady golfers have been invited to join this activity by releasing the turtles into the sea at Sea Turtles Conservation Centre Royal Thai Navy.”
