TURIN —— The original charity initiative that brought Jeep and Rolling Stones back together again ended last week of 2014. A new Jeep Renegade signed on the hood by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts was successfully auctioned off at global charity auction site Charitybuzz to an anonymous bidder for $46,000,-. The auction took place at Charitybuzz.com/RollingStonesJeep from 5 December to 23 December 2014.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit Community Links, a London-based organisation that tackles the causes and consequences of social exclusion by developing and running excellent practical activities and by sharing the local experience with practitioners and policy makers nationwide.
The auction takes the brand’s partnership with the legendary band, which brought them together from 26 May to 2 July on the “14 On Fire” European tour, to a new level. Jeep was the “Presenting Sponsor” and exclusive automotive partner with its flagship Grand Cherokee, the most awarded SUV ever and icon of Jeep’s premium quality.
The tour was also an ideal occasion to unveil the new Renegade. The vehicle sold at auction was the one signed on 22 June in Rome, the only Italian date of the tour, against the spectacular backdrop of Circo Massimo. Special guest for the evening was the new Jeep Renegade, unveiled for the first time in Italy in the ancient Roman stadium following its international debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
There could have been no finer location than Rome for the premiere: Renegade is, in fact, the first ever model in the brand’s history to be built in Italy and the first Fiat Chrysler Automobiles vehicle to emerge from the collaboration between Italian and US designers.
Sold in over 100 countries around the world, US included, the new Jeep Renegade has bags of personality and boasts class-leading, off-road capabilities and more than seventy safety devices. It is the only car in the segment to offer 9-gear automatic transmission, two drive systems, rear axle disconnection device and an instrument panel complete with 7-inch display.
