Jakarta, Indonesia —— The Jakarta City Government Tourism & Culture Office launched the second phase of their golf tourism strategy by publishing a new website dedicated to the golf traveller, www.enjoyjakartagolf.com.
The International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) working with the city’s Tourist Office identified that 21 of Jakarta’s 30 golf courses are open to visitors and perfectly positioned to attract international golf travellers.
Hari Wibowo, Manager of International Promotion for Enjoy Jakarta, said: “The launch of this website dedicated to the needs of golf travellers is another important step in our development as a golf destination. Few capital cities can offer 21 courses easily accessible and welcoming to golf visitors, and now everyone can see the great variety of golf experience on offer within 60 minutes’ drive of the city.”
Mirroring Jakarta’s Great City… Great Golf tagline, the website showcases the different golf experiences and complimentary city experiences that every golfer can expect to enjoy.
Highlighting just two of the stand-out golf experiences, Hari Wibowo remarked: “We simply have the best caddies in the world, as so many of our golf visitors have commented on; and then there is the unique opportunity to experience golf as a VIP with a group of friends or colleagues, as virtually all of our courses offer VIP facilities including private changing rooms and lounges that can be rented by visitors looking for that extra-special experience.”
Furthermore, while Jakarta offers golf right in the heart of the city, and in the nearby suburbs, a trail of golf courses winds through the Bogor Highlands south of the city, beginning just 45 minutes away from the most popular city hotels. A greater contrast is harder to find.
In its City Experiences section, the website uncovers the wealth of options open to the golfer in this ‘city that never sleeps’. With 173 shopping malls golfers will find almost anything they’ll ever need not far from the hotel. Shops often stay open late into the night, allowing shoppers to grab bargains even after a day on a golf course.
Most golfers will seek to savour the flavours and atmosphere of Jakarta’s restaurants and bars, from roof top lounges open to the sky and towering over the city, to traditional Indonesian restaurants accessed through narrow winding streets in the old part of town.
Peter Walton, Chief Executive of IAGTO complimented Enjoy Jakarta on its golf website saying: “The golf course section presents exactly the information every golfer needs when planning a golf trip, with loads of great photos. And in the Travel Advice section the golfer can find an IAGTO golf tour operator, in their own country, selling golf packages to Jakarta. We are very pleased to see how easy it now is for golf travellers to enjoy Jakarta golf! ”.
In an update to next year’s 4th IAGTO Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) Walton also announced that already 135 golf tour operators from 32 countries had registered to attend, and with five months to go all indications are that Jakarta will attract a record number of delegates.
The 4th AGTC will take place from 27-30 April 2015 at the Balai Sidang Jakarta Convention Centre.
