BANGKOK, Thailand, 18 August 2014 —– Chevrolet today shows its freshest vehicle line-up to date, including a special edition Sonic, at the Bangkok International Grand Motor Sale 2014.
The Sonic Manchester United Edition commemorates Chevrolet’s seven-year shirt sponsorship of Manchester United. On the exterior, it sports flashy decals on the doors and bonnet, red headlight bezels and 16-inch alloy wheels with special ‘Gun Metal’ colour, and inside, there are Manchester United logos embroidered onto the backrests of the front seats. Envisioned by Chevrolet Thailand’s local product team, the Sonic Manchester United Edition is being evaluated for exclusive release in Thailand.
“The Sonic Manchester United Edition may be the ultimate car for Thai Man Utd. fans, and it would be a great addition to our ‘team’ of great products – one of the most up-to-date vehicle lineups in Thailand,” said Marcos Purty, managing director of General Motors and Chevrolet Sales Thailand.
The special edition Sonic also shows how passionate Chevrolet Thailand is about the great game of football. The brand recently completed its ‘Play for Dreams’ campaign that will send five of Thailand’s best young football players on a trip to the UK to attend a Man Utd. football match later this year. Approximately 3,000 Thai children tried out for the competition, which culminated in a football academy judged by Zico Foundation in Bangkok on 13 August.
In addition, Chevrolet is a founding sponsor of the One World Futbol Project, having donated almost 1 million nearly indestructible balls to kids around the world since 2012. Chevrolet has already donated more than 5,000 One World Futbols to various communities in Thailand in 2013, and plans to distribute another 5,400 to communities around the country.
Chevrolet is fielding a winning team at the BIG Motor Sale with one of the most up-to-date vehicle line-ups available in Thailand, led by the recently launched Captiva. The SUV flagship now comes with fresh new design cues and new technologies including Passive Entry Passive Start (PEPS) and dual-zone climate control.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer also is on display. Refreshed recently, it features the latest second-generation Duramax four-cylinder turbo-diesel powertrain which has amongst the best outputs in its class. Recent updates also enhanced the Trailblazer with MyLink infotainment system and six-speed manual transmission for the 2.5L variant.
The new Duramax powertrain is also used by the Colorado, which now features new six-speed transmissions for both 2.5L and 2.8L variants. The Display Information Cluster within the driver’s instruments binnacle has been enhanced with additional displays that further encourage fuel economy.
Visitors to Chevrolet’s booth can also check out the Cruze, featuring an E85-capable powertrain and next-generation six-speed automatic transmission, and the Spin, Chevrolet’s answer for a modern and urban lifestyle with contemporary styling, car-like handling and ride-comfort. Spin was launched with a six-speed automatic transmission, a segment first.
Rounding up the ‘product team’ is the Sonic, which was recently updated with auto rain sensors, auto headlights (LTZ variant), and ABS and airbags (all variants).
Visitors to Chevrolet’s booth can look forward to fantastic deals, including interest-free instalments. They include free one-year insurance with 25 per cent down-payment and 72-month instalment for Captiva (petrol and diesel variants), Trailblazer, Cruze and Sonic. Promotions for the Cruze and Sonic also includes free-driving for the first 90 days.
Other promotions include a 25 per cent with 48-month instalment for Spin. For Colorado X-Cab 2.5L LT Z71 SVP, the promotion is 25 per cent down-payment with 60-month instalment. The promotion campaign runs from 1 – 31 August, 2014.
