ROME —- Jeep® brings an absolute preview for the Italian public to the stage in the spectacular setting of the Circo Massimo in Rome, the venue for the only date in Italy of the Rolling Stones ’14 On Fire’ Tour sponsored by the American brand: the new Small SUV Jeep Renegade will be the guest of honour of the tenth leg of the tour scheduled for 22 June in the “Eternal City”.
In an area offering high visibility set up by the brand inside the ancient Roman stadium, the first Small SUV in Jeep’s history will be exclusively displayed for the Italian fans of the famous British rock band and for the first time in Italy after its world reveal at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The brand could not choose a more appropriate location for this preview, as the new Renegade is the first Jeep model to be built in Italy and the first vehicle of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles group to be jointly developed by Italian and American designers and engineers.
Sold in more than 100 countries around the world, the new Jeep Renegade is a model packed with stylistic personality and boasting best-in-class off-road capabilities and 70 innovative safety features.
It is also the first Small SUV to offer a nine-speed automatic transmission, a choice of two 4×4 drive systems, rear-axle disconnect and a 7-inch display instrument panel.
The new Jeep Renegade will be marketed in Europe with a full line-up comprising four trim levels – Sport, Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk – equipped with efficient turbo diesel and petrol engines and available in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations.
A video of the new Jeep Small SUV will be displayed on the giant LED on-stage screens, while a digital iPad app will allow the audience to enjoy its very own “Renegade Experience”. In the Jeep area, concert-goers will be able to experience their own exciting “virtual journey” with Jeep Renegade in a few simple steps: first taking a photo and then customising their own Renegade with their preferred trim level and colour.
After completing the configuration, they can select various options to change the background of their “virtual postcard” (urban, snow, mud, sand) so that they are pictured against some of the most amazing scenery that’s all part of the Renegade world: from snowy Alpine landscapes to Californian beaches, but also a picturesque tree-lined downhill trail and a metropolitan ambience. If they select the “rock” option, they will end up right in front of the stage and the band: an exclusive gift that Jeep wanted to give to all those attending the concert who want to express their “rock” souls. The customised postcard with the concert-goer’s picture against the chosen background will be displayed live on the stage screen and can be shared via Facebook and e-mail.
Sponsorship of the Rolling Stones’ European tour places two undisputed icons side by side: a legend of the automotive world and the true superstars of rock music history. Both can lay claim to a history characterised by innovation coupled with an innate capacity to evolve and anticipate trends and public attitudes.
The flagship Jeep Grand Cherokee, the brand’s reference in terms of style, power, comfort and technological innovation, will be the “Official – 14 On Fire – Car” for the entire duration of the tour, with a fleet of courtesy cars made available to the artists and the organisers.
The Rolling Stones ’14 On Fire’ European Tour kicked off on 26 May in Oslo (Norway), and will make the following legs after the Rome date: 25 June at the Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid, Spain; 28 June at the Werchter Classic Festival in Werchter, Belgium; 1 July at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. The last concert will be staged 3 July at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark.
