BANGKOK, 4 April 2014 –— In time for the Songkran Festival holiday season, Goodyear Thailand has launched a national “Come Home Safely With Goodyear” campaign to promote safety on the roads by encouraging drivers to make sure their car and tyres are in tip top condition ahead of extended road trips. To assist, a free 25-Point Vehicle Safety Inspection is being offered at all Goodyear Autocare branches nationwide.

The Songkran Festival is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year for holiday travel, with Thai’s often driving long distances to see family and friends. And while vehicle safety and maintenance might not be at the top of everyone’s list of things to do during the holiday period, a little bit of care and maintenance can help to save time, money, and unnecessary breakdowns.

“The Songkran Festival should be a relaxing time, but too often we hear stories of motorists getting delayed by breakdowns that could easily have been avoided. Goodyear urges drivers to spend some time ensuring the family car is mechanically sound and capable of getting you where you need to go and home again these holidays,” said Finbarr O’Connor, Goodyear Thailand Managing Director.

Servicing helps to keep a vehicle in good running order and minimises the chances of developing problems that could be both costly and inconvenient to repair, as well as potentially cause safety issues while on the road. Checkups on the brakes, fluid levels, oil, tyre inflation and tread wear, belts and radiator are all important basic car maintenance inspections that should be performed on a regular basis.

“Every driver should put safety first by taking the time to do the basic checks to help ensure the reliability and roadworthiness of their vehicle. We encourage motorists to take advantage of this opportunity to have their vehicles checked for free by the professional and qualified service technicians at all Goodyear Autocare stores,” said O’Connor.

Free 25-Point Vehicle Safety Inspections are now available at all Goodyear Autocare stores across Thailand. For further details or to find the store closest to you, call the Goodyear Thailand customer relations center at 02-305-8585 or visit www.goodyear.co.th or www.goodyear-autocare.com.
